Causes
What Causes Arm and Elbow Pain?
Tendonitis
Tendonitis is an overuse injury that results in painful inflammation of the tendons that connect muscles to bones, especially around joints. De Quervain’s Tendinosis is a form of tendonitis in the wrist, resulting in pain, swelling or numbness around the base of the thumb. This is especially common among people who play golf and racket sports, but also among gardeners.
Tennis Elbow
This is the most common name for a repetitive motion injury to the elbow tendons that results in pain and swelling. This condition is also known as golfer’s elbow or pitcher’s elbow.
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is an overuse injury that’s often associated with daily computer work. This condition results from repetitive bending or flexing of the wrist or elbow that causes swelling and nerve compression in the carpal tunnel. Symptoms can include pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in your hands and fingers.
